Khayelitsha Athletics Club chairman Lubabalo Badi has expressed gratitude to runners and companies that supported their inaugural half marathon last week.
Badi said although they were satisfied with the number of entrants they feel the race has the potential to grow.
“It was our first half marathon but we have hosted more than eight 10km races and we are pleased with the progress made thus far.”
He thanked corporates and local businesses like Caltex, Engen, Ikeja, Avbob, Jobela Bed and Breakfast, Two Oceans Marathon Initiative, Hollywoodbets, the City of Cape Town, Department of Arts, Culture and Sports, Codeta, and Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature, Masizole Mnqasela, for their support.
Badi urged local businesses to support all forms of sports as this was a deterrent to crime.
Codeta secretary Andile Khanyi said they were happy to have played a role in ensuring the event took place.
