The mother of a Khayelitsha teenager who went missing on September 7 fought back tears last Friday after her daughter Akhona Mthungathwa, 19, returned home unhurt.
The 19-year-old Aloe High School pupil was reported missing by her mother Bulelwa Mthungathwa who turned to Vukani for help (“Help me find my daughter”, Vukani, October 17).
The grateful mother thanked all those who had helped find her daughter
”She is back home unhurt,” she said.
“That is thanks to your newspaper and your readership. May your readers continue the good work.
“She has not really told us the truth about her disappearance but we are happy she is back home.
“The people can stop looking for her now. Thank you a million times,” she said.
While Ms Mthungathwa believed her daughter had been abducted, police classified it as a missing person case.
