Children romped on jumping castles, played with skipping ropes and hula hoops and had their faces painted during a fun day at a school in Harare on Freedom Day, Saturday April 27.
The fun day at the Kwamfundo High School sports ground was held by members of the Safe Node Area Committee (SNAC) to give the children somewhere safe to play.
SNAC chairperson Yanga Mjingwana, said there were many disadvantaged children in the community who had never been to a fun park. He added that play was vital to a child’s development.
“We want them to be inspired and motivated to chase their dreams. We want them to feel loved, appreciated and just be children,” he said.
Odwa Sibakhoni, 13, said he was thrilled to be part of the fun day and hoped events like it would be held frequently.
