The cause of the shack fire, which broke out in Langa this morning, remains unknown.
The fire and rescue service dispatched five firefighting appliances, a rescue vehicle and 21 staff members to Njoli Street.
Upon arrival, they requested additional resources to fight the fire.
City of Cape Town fire and rescue spokesperson,Jermaine Carelse, said: “A further three firefighting appliances with a total of 15 staff came from nearby fire stations to assist.”
The fire was extinguished after midday.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
