I listened to Julius Malema delivering his speech in Parliament on Tuesday, telling us about the ANC’s manifesto, but forgetting to talk about his own party’s plan to govern and take this country forward.
Why did Malema spend 80% of his speech on what is wrong within the ANC, instead of focusing on what the EFF would do if they were in power?
Malema talks about free education, the expropriation of land without compensation, creating jobs for unemployed youth, the development of our rail systems plus the nationalisation of the Reserve Bank, but he never told those that voted for him, how you create jobs, and how you make sure the youth find employment.
He never told his followers that people in Zimbabwe expropriated land without compensation, but they dumped the land and migrated to South Africa because there is no money to work the land.
How do you work the land without money in your pocket and where will the money come from? Those are the realities we have to live and deal with — not slogans.
As a former ANCYL leader, if he himself stuck to the ANC resolutions, he would not have been involved in corruption allegations.
If he cared for the poor and the previously oppressed, he would not have demolished a R3 million house to build a R16 million house, while the majority of black people still live in poverty.
I would have like to hear Malema’s view on how his party will grow the economy of this country and how they would create a climate for investment.
It was Malema’s opportunity to showcase the view of the EFF and it’s readiness to govern this country.
What I did not expect from the leader of the EFF was to tell us what is wrong within the ANC. You never throw a life jacket at a sinking rat. You allow it to sink. We are hungry for an alternative party in South Africa that is free of corruption but with a clear vision for the people of this country and its development.
What a pity the PAC can’t take off as a party.
