Dear Dalibhunga:
It must be good in Heaven. Your quietness and that of your fellow former Robben Island prisoners says a lot. Since your passing I have not dreamt of you as my ancestor.
Nxego I am not sorry to bother you by writing this letter to you. I am writing to you not to complain but to update you about our situation in democratic South Africa.
The list of things that are happening is too long. But I shall try to give you a few of those that affect South Africans. Your party is number one in promoting division among South Africans. The ANC sees no good in other parties, even those who fought for this freedom we enjoy. The housing backlog is a nightmare. Africans are still in shacks and there is no hope they will ever have houses because we are told there is no more land.
But the other day I went to Stellenbosch. Hala, there is massive space there.
Shocking Ngub’engcuka is the fact that for women to get jobs they must sleep with superiors. Corruption has infiltrated every department. More shocking Ntande is the fact that those who claim to be freedom fighters and human rights activists are involved.
Madiba, I know you are in the league of Tambos, Bikos, Sobukhwes, Buntings and many others there. Please tell them we are in hell here.
I’m sure Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu wants to leave us and join you but the gods are refusing.
Zondwa, the girl child is not safe under the so-called freedom fighters. Traditional leaders are not taken seriously. Your own King, AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo, is languishing behind bars in a democratic South Africa.
Academics have abandoned your beautiful country because your party is too arrogant. When the rand falls do you think they care? They say let it fall; they will pick it up. That is the country you left in good standing with the world.
We are downgraded to junk status by everyone. As I speak we are in a recession. Let me tell you that cadre deployment has ruined the country. Comrades are killing each other because of tenders and positions. Parastatals are being crippled.
The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) and South African Airways (SAA) are insolvent, despite many attempts to rescue the latter.
The cabinet is recycled like you have never seen it before. I am sure you are aware that Nhlanhla Nene was a finance minister two times. Bheki Cele has been there twice as a police minister. Malusi Gigaba has been Home Affairs minister twice. There was another chap that was a finance minister for a weekend. But what is strange is that Gert Oosthuizen has been Deputy Sports Minister since 2004. That man is strong.
Mthembu, I informed about all these because millions go to bed with empty stomachs while your comrades are enriching themselves. Millions of young people are on tik and nyaope. Millions of parents are in shebeens. Depression has taken hold of many of us and I blame your political party.
Many celebrities die before they reach 40 – Mduduzi Edmund Tshabalala (Mandoza), 38, Lundi Tyamara, 38, Linda Mkhize (Pro kid), 38, Jabulani Tsambo (HHP), 38. I blame your party. Before I forget, please know that the Guptas have remotely ruled your country. I have visited Home Affairs, Social Development and other departments and have seen the mess there. But before I leave you, Dalibhunga, are you aware that after your passing they made T-shirts in your name and took the money? After your passing, some of your own comrades called you a sell-out? Anyway, pass my greetings to all the greats that might have protected this country from these vultures. Respond if you can but if not do not bother because there’s nothing you can do. Obebhala, umntakwenu omncinci.
