A Golden Arrow bus was set alight in Govan Mbeki Road, Philippi this morning.
The City’s Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three fire fighting appliances with 12 staff members to the scene.
On arrival, they found that in addition to the bus, a truck was set alight as well.
Fire and rescue services spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said: “The bus fire has been extinguished and the fire crews are proceeding under SAPS and metro police escort to the truck alight.”
Meanwhile, Rochester and Govan Mbeki Road in Stock Road remain closed due to violent protest in the area.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
