South African sculptor Johan Steyn will join actor David Muller on stage in Oom Schalk & the Sculptor at the Masque Theatre, in Muizenberg, on Friday August 4, at 8pm.
Muller has taken over from Patrick Mynhardt as Herman Charles Bosman’s character Schalk Lourens.
The show, directed by Celia Musikanth, will see Johan sculpting while Muller is telling stories. All the stories are in English.
“Al is jy Afrikaans sprekend, Bosman het Afrikaans in Engels geskryf; the sculpting of course, is another language altogether,” says Muller.
“All I can say is that that piece of work not only ties in with the Bosman stories but it will be completed by the time ‘Schalk’ has finished the last tale.”
There will also be an opportunity to win an anthology or two of Bosman’s work directly after the curtain call.
Tickets cost from R100 through Quicket.
