Rising Khayelitsha afro-jazz artist Linomtha cannot wait to share the stage with some of the best artists in the country at the She Multiplied concert taking place at the Zabalaza Theatre Festival this weekend.
The She Multiplied concert is celebrating the life of legendary struggle icons and musicians such as Winnie Mandela, Busi Mhlongo, Miriam Makeba and Dorothy Masuka.
The much-anticipated concert takes place on Sunday March 10, from 3pm to 5pm, at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch.
The theatre recently played host to Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse and the She Multiplied concert promises to be another iconic show.
Buhlebendalo Mda of the famous band the Soil and Sobantwana have already been announced on the line-up.
Linomtha said she is excited to share the stage with these artists because all three of them are under the Native Rhythms Productions label.
Linomtha said she is over the moon about being part of the line-up to celebrate icons like Mama Albertina Sisulu and Letta Mbuli.
She is known for her sweet afro music and said on the day this will be no different.
“I am mostly delighted about being part of and involved in this event. It is an event that one would not refuse to take part in. I started my career at the Zabalaza back in 2007. So coming back here feels amazing. When I was called with the offer to take part I could not hesitate to agree,” she said.
She said even her camp, Native Rhythm Productions, could not say no.
“To celebrate the likes of Winnie Mandela means the world to me. It means that I am being given a chance to express gratitude to the woman who had fought so hard for us to be at least closer to where we want to be”
Baxter publicity officer Jade Adams said: “The show is dedicated to women of South Africa and pays tribute to those women who came before them.”
She appealed to people to get tickets as early as possible.
Tickets cost R120. Book through Webtickets.
