Five years after his last release, That UJesu, Khayelitsha gospel artist Anele Bhuka has released the 13-track Abathemba Linjalo.
He is promoting and distributing the album himself due to a lack of funds.
This, however, has not deterred him from following his musical dreams.
The latest album, with its rousing tracks has already attracted fans and in the past few months since its release he has been invited to perform at a number of churches. Originally from Dongwe in Whittlesea, Eastern Cape, Anele got involved in music at around 10 years old. He cut his teeth backing other artists and it was while he was a backing singer for Thandeka Silwanya that he was noticed.
“It was then when people asked me why am I not cutting my own album. But I had to be wise. Eventually I decided to go on my own and had an album Bheka Baba, which made havoc,” he said.
He said the new album is a reflection of good things to come.
“Honestly it is doing very well. People love it. I have been invited to so many events because of it. It is doing remarkably well.
“I promote my own music. I do not have my own sound system, so I have to depend on people. If I have my own equipment, things would be far better,” he said.
Last Friday he performed at the Khayelitsha Mall, giving his fans a taste of what he has to offer,
Anele received a thunderous response and the crowd refused to let him stop singing.
Song after song, they asked for more.
Fans seemed to like the track, Ndizolibonga.
“They kept me on my toes,” said Anele.
“But that is why I sing. I make music for people. I am also excited to see their positive response, then I know I am doing a good job,” he said.
