Filth is not okay

Sipho Mbiko, Gugulethu

The places we live in as black people are filthy.

While we can, and must blame the respective councils for poor service, keeping our own environment clean is our primary responsibility.

In some townships people find and create a dumping site a few metres from where they live. Then there’s livestock that feed from this.

Assuming that council is failing, why can’t we keep things tidy and constantly burn the rubbish.

The first indication that you have now reached a black people’s settlement is filth. We litter even from vehicles.

We can patronise each other all we want, but we are primarily liable for the filth.

It’s not okay.
