Mngxitama, Roodt debate land

Andile Mngxitama, leader
of Black First Land First,
and Dawie Roodt, the chief economist of the Efficient Group, will slug it out, debating the land issue and expropriation, in the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s next Rumble in the Urban Jungle debate.

The bout takes place over two rounds after a dinner at the Cape Sun, on Tuesday November 6.

It will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.

Janine Myburgh, president of the Chamber, said the
land issue and expropriation without compensation
had been at the centre of
public debate for nearly a

“Most of the discussion has been at a fairly academic level and the Chamber felt that it was time to get down to basics and look at the facts as well as the emotions.”

She warned that some of the debate could be rather raw and that it would not be for the squeamish or the politically correct.

“Sometimes one has to push arguments rather hard to get the message across, but perhaps that is what’s needed at this time.”

The combatants will be dealing with questions like “whose land is it, anyway?”

The previous Rumbles hosted by the Chamber have been Julius Malema versus Clem Sunter and Pravin Gordhan versus Justice Malala.

The evening includes dinner and fine wines.
