Hartz Hlohla, chairman: Gugulethu Progressive Development Forum
The Gugulethu Progressive Development Forum (GPDF) requests that the Department of Basic Education allow each grade to attend classes one day a week, occupying all the classrooms a to allow social distancing and be given a whole week’s worth of homework.
The Grade 12s must fall in the same category but it should be compulsory for them to attend weekend classes to show their commitment to their studies. The department must allow the educators to assist the nation.
Parents, you’re also required to fully monitor the learners at home and assist them with their cellphones, and also allow them to watch educational programmes on television.
Health workers should be deployed at schools to monitor compliance and do awareness about Covid-19, and classrooms should be sanitised.
The schools can arrange to platoon other grades in the morning, and others in the afternoon but Grade 12 must attend these classes and compulsory weekend classes.
