The Langa Sports Complex was a hive of activity last Saturday, April 6, when more than 100 pupils took part in a community clean-up event hosted by the Vusa Rugby and Learning Academy with Shoprite.
“We were greatly encouraged by the turn-out. It was a great opportunity to show the learners that one is never too young to give back to your community, and a staggering 231kg of recyclable material was collected during the event,” says Makabongwe Kahla, head coach of Vusa, which aims to bring about social upliftment for under-privileged children through sports and academics.
All recyclable materials were collected by recycler Packa-Ching, ensuring that as little waste as possible ended up in landfills.
