Turfhall sports complex in Athlone was the place to be this past weekend with some of the city’s most exciting Cape Town Softball Association teams showcasing their talent, skill and passion in the women’s leagues.
In the Major League, Westridge Yankees beat Tantasport 6-3. Lavender Hill won 7-0 against Khayelitsha Eagles. The Falcons were on a bye, on Saturday, February 3.
In the First Division, Lavender Hill won 8-7 against Devonshire Rovers. Westridge Yankees were 16-5 victors over Grassy Park’s Crusaders. Glenthorn A’s won 15-5 against Kenfac Phillies. Belhar Dolphins started slow but ended up winning the match 12-11 against the Kuils River Cougars.
In the Second Division, Battswood won 20-7 against Kuils River Cougers. Heideveld took a 7-0 victory against Tantasport. Strandfontein Mets won 27-3 against Table View’s Tornado’s. Blackheath won 16-1 against Silvertree.
Meanwhile, Blackheath put up a seven point unanswered scoreline against Mavericks B, in the Third Division. Mavericks A won 10-2 against St Martins. Avendale beat St Augustines 7-0. The Falcons and Westridge Yankees game was called off in the Third Division.
The Cape Town Softball Association’s leagues will continue in Athlone this coming Saturday, February 10.
