Women share their success stories

A group of business-minded women gathered at Langa Museum to discuss and share ideas.

Organised by Blue Space Communications, the event saw various women business owners sharing information and tips on how to navigate and succeed in their respective sectors of the industry.

Blu Space Communications director, Busiswa Lutshaba, said her company aimed to elevate township brands and to connect them with their audience, investors and stakeholders on a larger scale.

“We create a platform for women-owned businesses so that they can get to share joys and pains of running a business,” said Ms Lutshaba.

Buoyed by her passion for communication and gift of the gab, Ms Lutshaba founded her company in 2005. “The essence of the brand was more of a lifestyle brand where I felt the events people liked attending were only hosted in more suburban areas,” she said.

Her first event was a book launch in Khayelitsha and she has not looked back since then.

The event held in Langa saw four phenomenal women in business sharing their stories with an appreciative audience with a common vision of creating their own wealth in the future. These women are Unathi Thethiwe and Kanya Gaqavu who founded the Feel Gorge Beauty Bar which specialises in selling Peruvian hair and have since ventured into beauty treatments, doing make-ups, manicures, pedicures and massages. Zandile Tlapi runs Baby Friendly, a boutique that caters for newborns, and in her spare time she is a vocalist with a single out.

Zukhanye Zonke is known as the queen of Inuka Fragrances, having recently won a number of prizes at the Inuka National Awards ceremony held at Sun City.

And to cap it all, was Swanky Swanky who was the mistress of Zandile ceremonies – a corporate DJ from the Philippi-based radio station, Qhayiya FM and the face of Strawberry Lips SA.
