Two men died in separate shack fires at the Kosovo informal settlement in Philippi yesterday morning.
Fire and rescue services dispatched a rescue vehicle with 21 staff members in the first incident.
The fire was extinguished just after 2am.
A man sustained fatal burn wounds.
Later that morning, another fire broke out in Kosovo. Numerous informal structures were affected.
A total of 35 staff members managed to extinguish the fire after 5am.

Fire and Rescue spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, said: “No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown.” Â
