Taxi driver with 30 outstanding warrants caught

A 32-year-old taxi driver was arrested in the CBD yesterday after he was found to have 30 outstanding warrants to the value of R107,950.00.

Traffic officers and an inspector of the Transport Enforcement Unit stopped a Toyota Quantum taxi on Strand Street and Lower Plein Street for operating without an operating license.

On further investigation, they discovered that the driver from Browns Farm in Philippi had 30 outstanding warrants.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Wynberg police station. His taxi was impounded.
