Suspected hijackers arrested after high-speed chase

A hijacked vehicle recovered in Nyanga.
Three suspected hijackers were arrested in Nyanga on Saturday December 15.

Members of the Metro police camera response unit were on patrol in Hanover Park when the police informed them of a hijacking in Bishop Lavis.

The unit spotted the hijacked vehicle in Hanover Park. They gave chase, but the driver refused to stop and sped off.

A high-speed chase followed.

During the chase, the suspect tried to force a police vehicle off the road.

The vehicle was eventually cornered in Nyanga with the assistance of the police. 

Metro police spokesperson Ruth Solomons said, “Three suspects aged 18, 19 and 25 were arrested and charged for possession of a hijacked vehicle and reckless and negligent driving.”
