Ikhwezi community hall in Gugulethu was abuzz on Friday with seniors singing traditional songs and dancing.
The programme started on a high note and featured seniors’ clubs from Gugulethu and surrounds, among them Lithemba, Lukhanyo, Movers, Vulindlela and many others.
Showing off their abilities, the seniors said the aim was to inspire young people and for them to stay healthy.
Nandi Ntshoza of Lithemba Senior’s Club said creativity promoted positive change and that they wanted to promote healthy living among seniors.
But most importantly, she said, they wanted to encourage the seniors to celebrate being alive.
Ms Ntshoza said another aim was to compete with seniors outside the province and to this end, they were planning a trip to Port Elizabeth.
Vulindlela Senior’s Club’s Noxolo Ncana said she was delighted to be part of the event and that the work done at the clubs was commendable.
