Ride for hope

Durban. 310818. The Nelson Mandela Legacy RIDE4HOPE is one of many events mandated by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to mark the centenary commemoration of South Africa’s first democratically elected president. The Nelson Mandela Legacy RIDE4HOPE creates a platform to carry Mandela’s message of hope as it cuts across two provinces; from Vilakazi Street in Soweto (Gauteng) to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site in Howick (KwaZulu-Natal). The Sunflower Fund in association with the MOTHS Motorcycle Association will hold a “fun-raising” mass ride, Ride4Hope, at the Killarney International Raceway on Sunday October 13.

There will be stalls and music at the family-friendly event, with Deon Big acting as MC.

Registration will take place on the morning from 8am to 9.45am. The 60km ride will start at 10am. Entry is R60, and all riders will get a metal badge upon registration.

The Sunflower Fund’s 2019 Tube of Hope (TOPE) will be on sale on the day.

Funds raised from Ride4Hope will help The Sunflower Fund create public awareness about the need for blood stem cell donors.

The fund raises money to cover the tissue-typing costs involved in recruiting potential donors.
