Five people were caught offloading stolen goods in Site B’s TR section on Tuesday morning, say police.
The three men, aged 24, 21 and 28, and two women, aged 19 and 21, allegedly robbed Takealot and Aramex delivery trucks of R200 000 worth of goods. Two more suspects are on the run.
Khayelitsha Neighbourhood Watch chairman Lunga Guza said: “Our people are struggling because couriers no longer want to service Khayelitsha because of thugs who mercilessly rob them. People waiting for parcels must travel to the airport to get stuff they paid for. I congratulate the police for this work.”
Police spokeswoman Captain Xoliswa Nyalambisa said Lingelethu West police officers were on patrol, doing random searches when they encountered the suspects.
“They were busy off-loading the goods from a Quantum when officers pounced on them,” said Captain Nyalambisa.
A hijacked bakkie was also recovered.
