An 82-year-old Gugulethu woman says she is living in fear after men in police uniforms forced their way into her home.
Feziwe Apleni says she was woken in the early hours of Monday August 26 by banging on her door.
“As I struggled to wake up, the front door was forced opened, and the men went to the back rooms where they further woke up my daughter. They ransacked the house, searching for something. We don’t know,” said Ms Apleni.
Her daughter, Nompendulo, said the men mentioned the name of someone they were looking for.
“We were traumatised because the person they were looking for does not stay here. We told them where the person stays, and they left without even introducing themselves,” said Nompendulo.
She said she was scared because she had heard reports of “fake police” committing crime and home robberies.
Nothing was stolen during the incident, but the family have opened a case of malicious damage to property.
Police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and no arrests have been made yet.”
