Worry over missing girl

The family is seeking information on their missing 12-year-old daughter Onela Gagushe.

A Boystown family in Crossroads is desperately seeking information on their missing 12-year-old daughter Onela Gagushe, who was last seen on the night of Tuesday January 15 when she went to her room.

Her aunt Faniwe Siyolo said the Grade 6 pupil from Sigcawu Primary was meant to go to school on the morning of Wednesday January 16, but neighbours who saw her said she was carrying a bag and a blanket on that morning.

Ms Siyolo said Onela is her sister’s child who came to Cape Town to live with them.

Ms Siyolo said the witnesses who came to them told them Onela said she was going back to the Eastern Cape.

She said these witnesses said they tried to tell her it was too early to go as buses and taxis are only found in the afternoon.

“It is hard to sleep. I am under tremendous pressure. Since this has happened I have a pounding headache that refuses to end.

“Every time I hear a sound of something outside I get up as if I will see her knocking on the door. We have been everywhere looking for her.

“We called back home but she is not there. We are very worried,” Ms Siyolo told Vukani at her home on Thursday January 24.

She said the family has reported the matter at the Nyanga police station.

She said a missing persons report has also been registered and police helped put up pictures of Onela on poles.

“If anybody has seen her, please let us know. At some point she was reportedly seen going to Mfuleni but we were confused because who does she know in that area,” said Ms Siyolo.
