Ntja Maphelle, Jozi
Every year, scores of poor black people are killed in train accidents. All this time we are told the cause is cable theft.
Recently, I listened to Minister Blade Nzimande, a communist, blame private security companies who, he says, are not doing enough to curb the scourge.
I would have thought that he would call for an abrupt end to outsourcing of security by PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa).
I was wrong. It makes me think, if cable theft affected DStv quality, let alone life, the problem would have long been solved.
I am no longer prepared to accept the lame excuse of cable theft. The narrative that poor black life is cheap is more plausible.
