The Gugulethu fire station was damaged by fire on Friday February 15 after protesters allegedly threw a petrol bomb at the building.
The quick reaction by the on-duty crew and the City’s law enforcement department ensured that the damage was limited.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown.
The station was closed after the incident, but has since reopened.
Executive director for safety and security, Richard Bosman, said: “It is not the first time that this has happened in Gugulethu. In fact, the station just reopened in December after being closed for months to effect repairs from previous protest-related damage.”Â
