Thembalethu Qolo, Nyanga
Let me take this opportunity and thank Gugulethu residents for standing up and supporting their initiatives.
On Saturday April 16, I was invited as a representative of Nyanga Youth Development to deliver a message of support to the Gugulethu Development Forum (GDF). For me this was encouraging because Gugulethu is one of the oldest townships in South Africa, but development has been moving at snail’s pace. I am proud of Gugulethu, I hope this developmental structure will influence Nyanga, Philippi and other surrounding areas.
It will influence the running of and trading in Gugulethu.
This structure is intended to ensure people who have influence in the operating of South Africa, especially those who come from Gugulethu, such as Thembekile Makwetu (South Africa’s Auditor General), Mcebisi Skwatsha (Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform) and Bongani Mkhongi (MP) play a major role in giving back to the community.
This structure will be the vanguard of the people against big co-operatives that see opportunities and want to exploit the people of Gugulethu.
This structure is a beacon of hope for Gugulethu residents against gansterism and joblessness, and for housing development and business opportunities.
I know for sure that the success of Gugulethu will be the success of Nyanga because the prospering will affect other townships as well.
