The UCT Law Clinic offers a free legal service to pensioners, unemployed persons, those who receive a grant and all other indigent persons.
They assist with civil matters like divorces, evictions, claims over R20 000, motor vehicle accidents and drawing up of wills. Cases will be accepted on merit and a means test screening. They have satellite clinics at the Athlone library on Mondays July 22, August 19 and September 23 from 5pm to 6.30pm; Retreat library on Wednesdays July 24, August 21 and September 25 from 5pm to 6.30pm; and Ocean View library on Fridays July 26, August 23 and September 27, from 9.30am to 11.30am.
You do not need to make an appointment and if you cannot make it to any of the clinics, you can contact them on 021 650 3775 or uctlawclinic@uct.ac.za for an appointment at their office in Rondebosch.
