On Heritage Day there will be a screening of
the 17-minute documentary, Gugulethu our pride 60 years on, that looks at the struggle and triumphs of people in Gugulethu between 1958 and 2018.
The documentary, which made it to the top three in the category for best use of footage in a short film production at the FOCAL International Awards held in London in June, will be shown on Tuesday September 24 at the JL Zwane Centre in Gugulethu from 11am.
“Conservation of heritage is very important because it provides a sense of identity in the fast changing world for future generations.
“We are calling the youth of the area, future leaders and activists of tomorrow, to come and engage with the past and the future
of the area,” said Phumzile Nteyi of Hlahla Consulting, organiser of the Gugulethu 60th celebrations.
“We have invited passionate Gugulethu-borners who have paved the way to participate in the discussion,” he added.
