Dam levels rise to 74%

City dams filling up ahead of summer.
Dam levels have risen by 4% over the past week to 74% of storage capacity.

The average water consumption for the past week is up slightly from 505 million litres per day to 511 million litres per day.

The City of Cape Town has urged residents to continue using water sparingly over the next few months as the City monitors the water situation going into summer.

Water restrictions and tariffs will be lowered from Level 6 to Level 5 from next week Monday October 1.

The City says these reductions are premised on the expectation that water users will continue with their conservation efforts so that overall usage remains in the current 500 million litre per day bracket.
