The name of Cape Town International Airport should change to honour Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe.
It is fitting to honour this great leader. Most importantly in the context of Pan Africanism, African Nationalism, Black Consciousness, African Rennaissance, African Identity and continental unity.
It will be so remarkable for our visitors and international friends to feel at home when they enter through Robert Sobukwe International Airport.
I propose the name of Robert Sobukwe because of the passion, determination, his devotion to the struggle of the people. Sobukwe sacrificed to put an end to colonialism, exploitation and imperialism.
Sobukwe’s high ideals can be honoured, restored and sustained because they have always been genuine, authentic and relevant to this end.
He died speaking of the total emancipation of the African people.
Sobukwe died fighting against apartheid, colonialism, bureacratic capitalism, semi feudalism in
the farming areas
of the land, neo colonialism and imperialism.
Sobukwe died speaking only of one race to which all belong – the human race.
