Vuzamanzi Primary School in Site C welcomed a donation of books from Active Learning 360 Degrees last week.
Principal Mcebisi Mnconywa said their library was lacking material. “This is a boost to our school, we need more books to keep our children busy,” he said.
Grade 7 pupils Phila Mdebele and Tholam Yose said they were happy to receive the books and would read them.
“Books will help us understand a lot of stuff, develop our vocabulary,” said Phila.
“I love books and I am going to get a lot from the library,” said Tholam.
Mr Mnconywa added that even teachers were excited to receive the books.
“They are motivated to get our library moving and we thank Active Learning 360% for inspiring us,” he said.
Sbongiseni Lolwana from Active Learning 360% said her organisation is collecting books from partners in the United States and redistributing them in the country.
“We work with schools to cultivate the culture of reading, we get children to read all sorts of books to expand their vocabulary and thinking skills,” she said.
Ms Lolwana said they also helped schools with their garden projects.
