Actress Nomasebe Andrea Dondolo has been missing in action on our small screens lately.
But the former The Queen actress, once a resident of Khayelitsha and now residing in Johannesburg, has shed some light about her “disappearance”.
Speaking to Vukani, Andrea said she had accepted a call to become a sangoma. She said she suffered a dangerous situation shortly before finally deciding to embark on this journey but she refused to elaborate.
Said the dreadlocked actress: “I won’t go into details. All I can say is that accepting and embracing this gift and journey is not easy. There is so much to deal with as one not only initiates for themselves but for the lineage and passes through a journey of generations and for generations.”
The award-winning actress spent the past year in KaNyamazane in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, under the strict guidance of a Gobela. Andrea said she was “still exhausted” by the whole process but added that accepting the calling does not guarantee smooth sailing.
“Lots of challenges face you depending on the kind of gift you have and where you come from. You accepting the gift means trailing on new territories and spirit ain’t no child’s play. You have to completely immerse yourself in the process and literally die from who you were before and what you knew.”
