When not reading the news at Radio Zibonele FM, IT technician Ronald Nombakuse wows the nation with his wacky videos uploaded on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Nombakuse started Xhosa comedy news on Facebook in 2019 and has attracted about 10 400 followers and sometimes his videos are shared by hundreds of people on WhatsApp.
Nombakuse, who grew up in Ngqamakhwe, said he always had a “funny bone” and was always cracking jokes and giving mates odd nicknames.
Today he uses that art of giving people funny names when creating characters.
“I am a voice over artist and satirist for my page on Facebook,” he said.
He has visited a lot of places in the Eastern Cape where he has been able to collect material for his page.
Nombakuse has a number of academic qualifications including a diploma in Information Technology (IT) majoring in business application (2017); a Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) in IT (2019) from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and is currently studying at the University of Cape Town towards a post graduate diploma in business and systems analysis.
He is a die-hard Orlando Pirates fan and has attended all the Joyous Celebration recording shows.
Nombakuse has a desire to enter the Mr South Africa competition in 2021.
“I aspire to enter for Mr South Africa in 2021/22 to raise my voice about burning issues that affect those who are less privileged. I advocate for persons living with disabilities and for education. I believe through this we can equip the youth in our communities through the utilisation of skills and talents by encouraging them to look at life in the bigger picture,” he said.Â
