Radio dramas hit airwaves

Lungelo Nqophiso is the scriptwriter of isiXhosa drama, Ekugqibeleni.

Afrikaans radio comedy drama, Die Aasvoën , part of Artscape’s New Voices programme, will premiere on Saturday August 29, at 5pm, on Radio Sonder Grense (RSG).

Written by Elton Louw, the two-hander stars Denver Vraagom alongside Andre Samuels and begins with a burglar breaking into a well-to-do house only to discover someone is at home. What transpires is a comedic take on humanity, how much we have in common and what could happen if we are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The New Voices radio partnership aims to bring financial relief to artists and scriptwriters of this year’s programme in the absence of live theatre due to the pandemic.

It also serves as a platform to showcase their talent while entertaining South Africans with emerging productions aimed at redressing socio-economic challenges through the arts.
