Parker G ready to make his mark

Parker G and his producer D Eyzho want to conquer the world with their music.

Khayelitsha-based musician Parker G’s goal is to become one of Mzansi’s best artists.

The hip hop trap musician, whose real name is Siyabonga Ntozini, is busy putting the finishing touches to his 10-track mixtape called Godly Wave 1 is ready to launch his new mixtape with 10 tracks.

Parker G started singing spaza in early 2012 while at the varsity, having been inspired by a friend to pursue music. So, he started recording his music, but did not release it.

Then, in 2014 he got his first break at producer D Eyzho’s recording studio in Khayelitsha.

“We are dropping a mixtape on Saturday (November 30) that we have been cooking for a while now. We are pushing it to all the radio stations and newspapers so that we can reach our target
market.

“That is how we are going to conquer. We must first get it to people and have gigs – even if we perform free because people do not know me. But at some point they will know me and I will make sure they do not forget me,” he quipped during a visit to the Vukani offices.

Asked about the challenges of becoming a musician in the township, Parker G mentioned a few but highlighted that marketing and money were among the greatest challenges.

“It is not easy at all. You have to know people in the media space. For you to perform at gigs is not easy. But the problem is money and marketing. That is why some of the artists have to work 9 to 5 jobs for them to be able to continue with their calling. But we cannot just give up. This is what we live to do,” he said.

Producer D Eyzho said he loved working with Parker G and praised his work ethic.

“I love working with creative and professional people. He is one of those. The aim is to come up with hits. I want him to become a force to be reckoned with in the industry,” he said.
