At just 22 years old, Kgaogelo Moagi, known as “Master KG”, has released his debut album titled Skeleton Move and has embarked on a tour to promote it.
He says the 10-track commercial house album contains inspiring songs and he hopes it brings a different dimension to the music industry.
Master KG says the album contains meaningful messages and there are no vulgar lyrics.
He boldly states that the album consists of well composed and arranged songs and he firmly believes that a number of hits will come from it.
Master KG started singing and playing musical instruments at the age of 13 in 2009. He developed a passion for music and knew that this was what he wanted to do with his life.
He says his parents were not quite convinced about his intention of pursuing music as a career and wanted him to focus more on his studies.
But, for Master KG, the draw of music was too strong and eventually his parents realised that he was serious about it and started rallying behind him.
He says he taught himself how to play instruments and produce songs. He was born and bred in Limpopo, around Tzaneen, and that is where his musical journey began. He says the journey has not been easy and he only managed to get his big break in 2016 when he released an instrumental song titled Skeleton Move.
That introduced him to the industry and he claims that this song opened many doors for him.
This year Master KG has decided to add vocals to Skeleton Move and named the album after it.
Asked what he brings to this tough and highly contested industry, he says he brings new ideas and a different perspective.
Master KG completed his matric last year and now intends to focus more on his music.
“It is not easy to make it in this industry. I had to be strong and there were times when I wanted to give up. But my family and friends supported me and actually said my time would come. Hard work and perseverance eventually paid off.
“The key to success is being yourself and never pretending to be someone you are not. Uniqueness is the key to anything.
“I urge budding artist to work on their craft and protect it,” he says. Skeletonm Move has been viewed nearly 3 times on Youtube.
On Friday he will be performing in Zambia and on Saturday he will be in Botswana. You can follow Master KG Music SA; his Twitter handle is Master KG Music; and on Instagram he is Master KG.
