Singer Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, known by her stage name Makhadzi, is on tour to celebrate the release of her new song, Kulakwe.
In an interview with Vukani while on a visit to Khayelitsha, the Ghanama hitmaker said she had great love for her fans all over the world.
She was happy that within 24 hours of the release, the new song, which features Master KG, had hit more than 100k views on YouTube.
“I am in Cape Town to introduce Kulakwe to people of the province. But I am also here to celebrate with them. I am happy with the reception I am receiving every year here; the fact that I am a Venda singer and most cannot understand my lyrics but they still listen to me. They danced to my music. It means I am also doing something good for them,” she said.
Since the release, fans have been sharing sound clips of her new offering on social media. She will soon shoot a video.
Her advice for the young and up-and-coming artists is not to focus on things they do not know about, like hurrying to establish a recording company. “Rather focus on what you know best. This is what I’m doing. I do not see myself having a recording company. It must come with time,” she said.
She is also willing to collaborate with young artists. Now that her 2022 song is complete, she will spend the coming days visiting her fans in different areas of the country.
But she is not completely ruling out coming back to Cape Town and having a concert.
“It will be good to come back and have fans in the form of a show, sing and dance with them. That vibe, that environment before Covid would be great. But as soon as things get back to normal, I will do that,” she said.
