Linda and saxophone go on tour

Linda Tshabalala is one of the recipients of the 2018-2019 Music Mobility Fund from Concerts SA, a joint South African/ Norwegian music development project.

Jazz saxophonist Linda Tshabalala is on her first national tour ahead of her upcoming debut album.

The album titled Convergence
is about the joys and struggles
she has experienced while
pursuing her calling as a musician.

“The music on my upcoming album is of African descent, truly representative of an African in the new age who knows where she comes from and who she is,” says Tshabalala.

One of her compositions is an ode titled Nomza, dedicated to her mother.

“It is the time for female instrumentalists to take their place in the industry. By no means am I saying I am the only advocate for this,” says Tshabalala.

Her tour is supported by Concerts SA through the Music Mobility Fund, a funding mechanism which offers opportunities for South African musicians to undertake live music tours.

Tshabalala plays alto saxophone and flute. She is joined by Dylan Fine on guitar, Thembi Dunjana on piano, Gally Ngoveni on bass and Bonolo Nkoane on drums.
