Khanyisa Nkantsu put on a stylish display as she stepped out for Sithembiso Soboyisi’s live music DVD shoot on Sunday November 10.
The Eastern Cape gospel singer looked sensational in a blue dress with matching shoes.
In a career spanning more than two decades, she recently launched her 11th album titled Uncedo.
She confirmed to Vukani that she is back in the music business. She promised that the album won’t disappoint those who have followed her for years.
She is looking forward to staging a few shows in Cape Town and speaks highly of her work and people she has worked with on the new album.
The talented vocalist said she came up with the album at a time when the country is grappling with many negative issues. Her title Uncedo is a plea to the Almighty to help women, children and those who are in need of help.
“We recorded the album at a very bad time in the country. But the album is to take people back to the cross. We need to say through it all, there is hope in the cross. There is help in the cross.”
In the album she has partnered with a couple of great singers and there are familiar songs that are nicely re-arranged such as, Xa ebizwa, Ndikhokele, Lizalise, Ufanelwe Zizibongo. The title track and Nas’ismanga show the class Khanyisa is in. Her magnificent voice is uplifting.
She composed most of the 16 tracks on the album.
She also showed her experience in music by arranging most of the songs. On her years in the music industry, she said it has been a good but also a “challenging” journey.
“There has been good things, very positive. But again you have the industry’s challenges that you have to go through. But one thing I cannot stand is piracy. We all need to admit that it is killing our careers. Actually piracy is a problem not a challenge,” she said, calling on people to help them end piracy. She said the new album was all about what God has done for her.
“When I look back to what He has done for me, I cannot believe it. That is why I compiled such a long album. I wanted to go for more but I thought let me stop. If you ask me, I am ready to go to the studio now but that is something that cannot happen,” she said laughing.
Khanyisa will be touring the province in February.
