Joyous records live DVD

Fans were on their feet all the time at the Cape Town International Convention Centre where MTN Joyous Celebration 23 recorded their album live.

The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) came alive last weekend as celebrated musical group, MTN Joyous Celebration, recorded its 23rd live album.

Hundreds had come out to celebrate and be part of the unique experience of the Joyous Celebration 23 Live CD and DVD album and were in a joyous mood.

The multiple award-winning and internationally acclaimed gospel ensemble had promised a unique and intimate experience of praise and worship in the auditorium at Cape Town International Convention Centre from December Thursday 13 to Saturday 15 and delivered on the promise.

It’s been 23 years since the group first took the musical world by storm. The recording was the second live recording in Cape Town of its kind since Joyous Celebration 12 which was recorded at GrandWest Casino in 2008. This year’s recording saw a variety of locals and international people from as far as Botswana in attendance over the three-day period. In a true Joyous style, the audience sang along and danced.

The only disappointment was the starting time, but the audience forgot about that soon after the show got started.

The group also gave young stars the opportunity to showcase their talent and interpretation of the genre. As is the case with most of the group’s albums, Joyous Celebration 23 had something for everyone, and for every moment in life.

Afterward, fans who spoke to Vukani, said the the group had outdone itself and praised their performance.

Thembi Masombuka from Swaziland said she was in Cape Town because she loved the group’s music. Another Swazi national, Sarah Mahlangu, echoed these sentiments, saying she always followed the group.
