There will be an art exhibition and a performance by the Bokani Dyer Trio at an event organised by Jazz in the Native Yards and Concerts SA, at the Guga S’thebe Cultural Centre in Langa, on Sunday February 10.
The exhibition by two local artists Mzwabantu Henda and Buhle Nkalashe starts at 3pm and the music is from 4pm.
Dyer, a multi-award-winning composer and pianist, returns to Cape Town after the launch of the fourth studio album, Neo Native.
The 14-track album features new material as well as re-imagined works from previous albums Emancipate the Story (2011) and World Music (2015).” Neo Native is an idea about identity.
“How one chooses to identify and a question of what a person feels connected to as native. In the human experience beyond geography, where does the feeling of home reside?” says Dyer.
His trio includes Sphelelo Mazibuko on drums and Romy Brauteseth on bass.
Tickets are R120 each and R70 for pensioners and students. Refreshments will be sale.
