Among the Cape Town gospel artists who are making a name for themselves in the industry is Chumani Ngojo, who recently scored nominations for the prestigious 2019 SABC Crown Gospel Awards in Durban.
The Khayelitsha artist was nominated in four categories in the upcoming awards which, every year, honour the best in gospel music and entertainment across 30 categories.
The singer has been nominated for the Best Artist of the Year, Best Song Writer, Best Worship Song for his contribution to gospel music – and the big one – Artist
of the Year, a category in which
he will be competing with Sbu Noah, Takie Ndou and Tebogo Moloi.
Reacting to the news, Chumani said: “It’s really overwhelming, the fact that I’m nominated in numerous categories including Artist of the Year. Winning the awards would mean a great deal. After burying my wife, God brought a smile to my face and gave me nominations,” he said.
“My support is doing good. My music is more contemporary but still loved here and abroad. I normally take tours around and the support has been overwhelming.
That is why I am positive to
get votes. I really appeal to them not to disappoint me this time,” he said.
Chumani has produced offerings like We Praise, Yimi Lona, Moving Forward and current live DVD, No More Pains.
The awards ceremony be screened on SABC on Sunday November 24 at 8pm. To vote for Chumani, SMS Crown 7 to 41872. You can vote as many times as you like.
