Rozario Brown Digital in Association Heart FM and Africa Community Media (ACM), which publishes <<ADD NAME OF NEWSPAPER>> will be hosting the second edition of Cape Town in Concert, an online show featuring some of Cape Town’s most celebrated artists, on Saturday August 28, at 7pm.
Last year the event sold close to 5 000 tickets and attracted more than 15 000 viewers from South Africa and across the world.
This musical and entertainment spectacular will once again feature no fewer than eight top local acts, including Salome, Robin Pieters, Karin Kortje, PJ Twins, Elwira Standili, Gemma Fassie, Matelize Voight and Vuvu Kumalo.
One aim of the event is to pay tribute to the unsung heroes, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, police officers, law enforcement officers and teachers.
Leaders in government, civil society and the medical field will be invited to send a pre-recorded message of appreciation, hope and inspiration, which will be streamed between the various performances on the night.
At least 1 000 complimentary tickets will be given to frontline and essential workers.
The event will mark the end of Women’s Month by celebrating the leading role being played by women, especially during the current global pandemic; and show solidarity with victims and heighten awareness around the escalating gender-based violence (GBV) pandemic.
It will showcase Cape Town and the province as a musical, entertainment and arts haven by creating a platform for local artists to work during this pandemic; and create employment opportunities for 50 artists, entertainers, musicians and production crew.
To raise awareness around the developing mental health crisis facing the youth, organisers will once again be partnering with Cape Mental Health, which will receive a portion of the show’s proceeds.
Prizes valued at over R35 000 are up for grabs by lucky ticket holders. The main prize will once again be a two-night stay in the presidential suite, on a bed and breakfast basis, at the Radisson Blu Hotel and Residence in Cape Town.
Tickets for Cape Town in Concert cost R100 through Quicket and the entire family can watch the show streamed from the Penny Lane Studios to the comfort of your living room – on your mobile phone, your laptop or on your big screen television set.
It will be a musical showdown of note featuring big sound, awesome lighting, amazing voices and many familiar songs but will also remind the public to wear their masks in public, to sanitise their hands and to stay indoors where possible.
To show hopes to spread hope, unite and inspire our nation.
